I loathe it. I am surprised that one of my senators at least voted to allow it. I'm not in favor of the government meddling, but if they are going to meddle and say I'm so critical to the economy that I cannot strike, then I should be critical enough to get sick pay.

But nope. Still working nights, weekends, holidays. Still get less paid time off than I would in any other industry. It's all so tiring.

I called my rep and gave them a piece of my mind. Not a rail worker, mind you, I make munitions, but, solidarity.

its unpopular in a lot of circles, but it seems doubtful that vague general ire will end up doing you any good.

That's a rare user. He'll have to get banned. Can't have the plebs seeing that all politicians are owned, especially not on the HS government's little propaganda site

"Dupont wanted rail unionists treated better, lolbertarians are pro-administrative state."
Can anyone here confirm? Sounds like BS.

Dad works as an Engineer and I overheard him talking about how this year he won't be able to take sick days or anything, he seem mildly pissed

I was absolutely shocked that my reptilian senator voted for the extra sick days and against blocking the strike. I was so surprised that I sent him an email saying "I'm normally disgusted by you, but thanks for being a decent person for once."

May or may not have been intoxicated.

Well There's Your Problem | Episode 119: The American Freight Railroad Industry–(YouTube)
This 'Well There's Your Problem' is highly related. Whats wrong about American railroading as implemented.

The nominal main host, Justin Roczniak has also visited in another podcast called 'Work Stoppage' about the strike prospects before Biden stepped in:

Rocz is, by and large, a top tier podcaster when it comes to railroad issues. Be sure to check out the WTYP episode about Penn Station, and the 3 parter about Penn Central.

coincidence?

Yes, it is. Railroaders aren't very bright, but most aren't dumb enough to risk their lives and liberty over a few sick days... except that one guy in LA about 3 years ago trying to ram the hospital ship with his train.

Yeah that guy... that whole thing was just... special...

Funny enough, a recent hire at my railroad is a guy who was working on that railroad on that day. He said the whole railroad shut down for about an hour after the incident while everyone tied up and checked their phones.

Also, the engineer tried to throw a fusee in the fuel tank, but didn't account for the fact that the fuel cap was still on lol

I wished the common man had enough put away money to be able to force their will by simply quitting/striking. Its sad to see the ones who labor is the most important be essentially a slave class. its either slave away for scraps, or dont and starve
